School-community relations

More good communication ideas from the NSPRA this week, courtesy of its publications Network and Principal Communicator.

Network shares several case studies that illustrate the importance of investing in public relations: White Bear Lake Area (Minn.) schools created a communication position in spite of a big budget crisis. Seven years later, the position still exists, and the district points to success stories that have resulted. The Beachwood (Ohio) School district set up an ambitious email system to communicate with parents more effectively. The new system has increased two-way communication and has saved the district money.

Principal Communicator includes tips for getting publicity tips for your school, ways to honor teachers publicly for their work, and how winning teachers use communication.
